One person is dead and two are missing after a boat crash in the Connecticut River Monday night, according to officials.

At around 9:15 p.m. EDT, DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to a boat crash in Old Saybrook, 30 miles east of New Haven, Connecticut, Will Healey, director of communications for the  Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, told USA TODAY in an email. Nine people were onboard the boat, and multiple people were ejected from the vessel when it crashed.

The boat, a single motorboat, was found floating and half-submerged near the Harbor One Marina. It received "significant damage" after it struck a break wall.

The three were not wearing life jackets at the time of the crash, reported CNN.

Search and rescue resumed Tuesday

After the crash, officials conducted a search and rescue until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The search was suspended and continued at 7 a.m., according to Healey.

Multiple agencies are conducting the search, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Life Star, and the State Police Dive Unit.

Others on board rescued

Six of the nine onboard were rescued and taken to the hospital, and one person is in critical condition, said Healey.

This is a developing story.
